Impact Fees
Impact fees ensure that new development bears a proportionate share of the cost of capital expenditures necessary to provide specific services in the county. Together with the Horizon Council and other community leaders, the Fort Myers Regional Partnership is constantly exploring ways to reduce the financial burden that businesses face when engaged in development.
For example, in December of 2010, the Board of Lee County Commissioners reduced impact fee costs charged to medical facility construction by almost 70 percent.
